Peoples
Run – Memorial Mother Theresa of Calcutta
– is a real sport event but its dedication to the
little big nun makes it unique: participating not only means
being part of half a marathon but above all running to remember
fundamental values and contribute to concrete objectives.
Candido Cannavò
,
one of our testimonials says that these are the occasions
that make sport big: Sara Simeoni
,
who met her, defines Mother Theresa a real “Marathon
Runner” , to remember how much this sport is the concrete
expression of her message, walking/running together without
distinction of race or religion.
This little country, inhabited by eagles even before than
by men, this Albania with a thousand problems, can unexpectedly
teach the world something, that of a real and concrete living
together peacefully among different religions, among strong
Catholics, communities of muslims, orthodoxies and Jews
which make up the country. In this world that seems on the
brink of inevitable conflict and war, every day Albania
is a concrete model that has crossed centuries without changing.
Angelo Massafra
,
President of the Albanian Episcopal Conference and Ervin
Hatibi
,
Director of the official organ of the Muslim community,
that is why we named it Peoples Run because running in Tirana
on the 19th October is worth more than a thousand speeches,
and more than millions of words.
Participating in the Peoples Run means giving a small but
concrete contribution to Albania both for those who want
to help it, in its incredible effort to become closer to
Europe and for those who want, rightly so, to create the
conditions to try to cancel criminality so that its inhabitants
will not be obliged to emigrate or even worse become stowaways.
